Arrest made in this morning’s VCU gun discharge

The incident occurred around 3:13 AM and nobody was injured.

The VCU Police Department has arrested the individual responsible for the incident of shots fired on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus early this morning.

Felix C. Thompson Jr., 18, of Henrico, is charged with one count of brandishing a firearm and one count of willful discharge of a firearm in public, both misdemeanors. (No photo of Thompson is available.)

On August 18, 2015, at approximately 3:13 a.m., the VCU Police Department responded to the 400 block of N. Harrison Street. Multiple witnesses in the area reported seeing three men in a red Mini Cooper and shots fired from the vehicle.

Thompson fired into the air and there were no reported injuries. Police have identified the two other individuals in connection with the incident. None of the individuals involved are affiliated with VCU.

VCU Police utilized multiple alerting systems to notify the community of this incident, including issuing text messages and activating sirens on campus.
