150 third-graders learning some very cool things about trees at Bettie Weaver Elementary School in Midlothian on Tuesday . They’ve been participating in the Project Plant It! environmental education program developed by Dominion Virginia Power. On Tuesday, the students were treated to a presentation by Lisa Deaton, a forestry education specialist with the Virginia Department of Forestry. The kids were mesmerized for a solid hour and I’m sure that they told their parents some of the fun facts about trees that Lisa shared.

On Arbor Day (April 24), Dominion is giving each student a tree seedling to plant and help improve the environment. Lisa told the kids about all the games, activities and videos at www.projectplantit.com. I learned some new things about trees myself!
