VCU battle U of R in the kitchen

This is the 2nd Annual Coaches’ Cook-Off.

Virginia Commonwealth University’s Coach Shaka Smart will cross spatulas with University of Richmond’s Coach Chris Mooney in a culinary battle that has been dubbed the 2nd Annual Coaches’ Cook-Off but what I’m calling the Southside Slapdown. This clash is set to take place on Thursday, April 17th from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Science Museum.

These warriors of the whisk won’t be going into the kitchen alone. They’ll both have access to a team of professional chefs at their disposal including: Buz Grossberg of Buz and Ned’s Real Barbecue, Jim Ertel, executive chef at Salisbury Country Club, Glenn Pruden, executive chef at U of R and Gary Whitecotton, executive chef at The Country Club of Virginia.

Tickets are available online and cost $100 for a single and $150 for a pair with money benefitting the Positive Vibe Foundation.  This year, along with the other delicious food available, each attendee will get to taste each of the coaches’ creations and vote for their favorite.
