Urban winery could be on tap for Scott’s Addition property
Tap 26 owner Jon Lintvet seeks to transform a unique property at 3101 West Clay Street into offices for his company and an urban winery.
An urban winery and much needed elbow room for a local wine-on-tap distributor could be in the works in Scott’s Addition.
Tap 26 owner Jon Lintvet is vying for a city-owned piece of property at 3101 West Clay Street, at its intersection with Summit Avenue.
Lintvet’s company, which provides wine-on-tap to a number of local restaurants, thinks the space would satisfy his growing business’s need for more space, but he has more than that planned for the property, as he explained in an interview with Style Weekly this week.
Tap 26 has been growing rapidly. “We took over the space next door [in Ashland],” Lintvet says. “Richmond is really second only to San Francisco or Portland in wine on tap. We do more wine-pouring here than in D.C.”
The Scott’s Addition property would provide much-needed space, he says. Lintvet’s plan is to create a working urban winery and tasting room open daily and for special events. It will serve an extensive selection of wines by the glass from Virginia and around the world.
