Style Weekly dines at Greenleaf’s Pool Room

Greenleaf’s go for the pool or go for the food you can’t go wrong.

I’ve been to Greenleaf’s Pool Room twice but the focus was on pool not food. That’s not to say I didn’t sample their smallish but excellent beer list or enjoy a charcuterie plate that was surprisingly good.

Honestly most of my previous pool hall experience taught me to stick with burgers and wings but Greenleaf’s has changed all that and makes this pool hall a dining destination (menus here) even if you never pick up a stick.

While concise, Greenleaf’s menu aims to set your notion of pool-hall food on its ear with half a dozen snacks and as many sandwiches. A ramekin of Hungarian hash ($5) layers long-cooked chuck roast over croutons with a dollop of sour cream, hearty by anyone’s definition of a snack. Daily deviled eggs ($6) are packed with personality, all the more appealing because they come two different variations per order.

  1. Absolutely love Greenleafs! Great pool hall; definitely a favorite spot in Richmond. Wish the owner and staff nothing but success. Is great to see a business like this take a shot downtown.
