RTD Dines at The Pig and Pearl

Great in theory.

We’ve reached that magical tipping point at The Pig and Pearl where the restaurant has been open long enough that reviewers feel comfortable sharing their experiences. This time it’s RTD that grabs a table and are a little disappointed. The previous review by Style Weekly was hauntingly similar.

Separated from the dining side of the restaurant is BURN, a high-end smoking lounge that lets you chase your bacon with “an ambitious whiskey portfolio and … quality cigars.”

Such a multipurpose restaurant seems like a no-fail concept, but when it comes down to it, it’s the food that matters most. Unfortunately, what’s coming out of The Pig & Pearl’s kitchen simply isn’t that great.

The most memorable portion of my recent Friday dinner was bourbon-pecan bread pudding ($8), which isn’t made in-house but rather at Shyndigz, the much-loved bakery on Patterson Avenue.
