Blue Bee Cider to purchase former City Stables in Scott’s Addition

How much booze can one neighborhood support?

From Richmond.com:

After months of deliberation, the city of Richmond has selected Blue Bee Cidery as its preferred buyer for the old city stables property in Scott’s Addition.

The property at 3101 W. Clay St. has drawn interest from several prospective buyers in recent years as development in Scott’s Addition has gained steam.

“The proposal presented by Blue Bee Cider was selected as the top proposal,” Tammy D. Hawley, spokeswoman for Mayor Dwight C. Jones, said Tuesday.

With two breweries, another cidery, a meadery, and potentially more alcohol-based businesses on the way, Scott’s Addition is becoming quite saturated. Why the city chose Blue Bee as the preferred buyer for the site will remain sealed at least until negotiations are complete, but the cidery beat out a number of other proposals including an oyster bar, Legend outpost, and an urban winery.
