I first heard rumor of Chef Mamusu’s West African Cuisine moving into the Parkside location from a Tweet by Paul Spicer of Grid Magazine.

Lacking confirmation I held off on posting. The result of my patience, some might call laziness, is that the much more tenacious Karri Peifer swooped in and found out all the details including the April 5th opening date on the new restaurant and posted this story on Richmond.com.

It’s Chef Mamusu’s West African Cuisine, a second location for Chef Mamusu’s Africanne on Main on the corner of Main and 2nd streets in downtown Richmond.

The Southside spot will serve similar West African fare, with a fusion of Southern and Caribean flavors, according to Tony Hill, Chef Mamusu’s son.

The downtown spot is lunch-only, but Hill says this location will focus on table-service and dinner – plus lunch, Saturday breakfast and Sunday brunch.

Take a peek at what to expect with the menu from the downtown location. Yay for curry.
