Tuesday was a funky day, temperature-wise; Richmond hit its high temperature of 41 at 12:20am, and then hit its low for the day 31, after 8am. Not something one usually expects to see in a 24-hour period. It’s going to be cooler over the next few days, but the pattern will be anything but boring!

Wednesday is shaping up to be the most boring day we see for the rest of this work week. High pressure situated over the mid-Atlantic will keep skies partly-cloudy tomorrow with cool temperatures again, as highs will struggle to reach the upper 40s. Lows Wednesday night will fall back to the upper 20s.

Thursday gets a little warmer, as high pressure starts moving out in advance of an area of low pressure set to sweep across the Ohio Valley. Highs will climb into the mid 50s as some fairly thick cloudcover builds across most of the area. Lows Thursday night will moderate as well, only reaching down into the mid 40s as another warm front passes through the region, associated with an area of low pressure farther west. Rain chances will start later Thursday evening, thankfully all sticking in the liquid phase and eliminating any chances for winter precip.

This low will bring some pretty significant precipitation to the Ohio Valley. We’re going to get quite the rain shower from this system beginning Thursday night, and should continue well into Friday. We’ll get a temporary dry spell this weekend and another round of precipitation early next week. I’ll be back with another forecast update Friday morning.
