This week is National Hurricane Preparedness Week. Here are the topics that have been discussed so far:

Speaking of the tropics, the National Hurricane Center has continued to monitor the area of disturbed weather between the Bahamas and Bermuda. The low has tracked some to the northwest, and is located now about 450 miles from the southeast coast of North Carolina. The area continues to remain disorganized with very little development, and the NHC now only gives it a 10% chance of developing any tropical or subtropical characteristics. The system will remain offshore, slowly moving north into Thursday before moving easterly into the Atlantic late Thursday.
Locally, the pattern continues to improve for Wednesday. The presence of that low off the coast will continue the easterly flow we have seen for the last couple days. We’ll see party cloudy skies with small rain chances and highs in the mid-80s. Wednesday night cools off to near 65.
Thursday gets even warmer, with highs back to near 90. The threat of showers with some thunderstorms increases a bit on Thursday, but the majority of the day should be quite enjoyable. Lows Thursday night fall back into the upper 60s with a continued chance for showers/storms.
There’s some unsettled weather coming for this weekend. The highest rain chances come on Friday and Saturday; for now, at least, Memorial day is looking dry and warm. I’ll post a full forecast on Friday.
