Weather! Rain, thunderstorm chances for the second half of the weekend
While all is not lost this weekend, especially with some gorgeous temperatures and reasonable humidity, but there’s some shower and thunderstorm action possible through early Sunday morning.
Some concerns about severe weather prompted me to postpone a weekend forecast until now. There’s still some questions to be answered, but we’ve got a pretty good looking weekend in store.
Our lack of humidity will continue through Saturday, thanks to an area of high pressure situated over the eastern seaboard. We’ll squeeze one more good day out of this system before it clears out. Partly cloudy skies should persist today, and temperatures will climb into the mid 80s. Dewpoints will stay down again, meaning we’ll be relatively dry as well; that being said, an approaching low from the northwest will bring ome moisture with it, meaning things won’t be quite as comfortable as they have been over the last couple days. Clouds will be on the increase beginning Saturday evening as this system approaches, keeping overnight temperatures into just the mid 60s. Saturday night’s Flying Squirrels game (vs. Reading, 7:05pm) will see temperatures in the low 80s to start, dropping down into the mid 70s by the ninth inning.
As this system approaches overnight, rain and potentially thunderstorms could develop across the area. The primary concern is for a complex of linear thunderstorms may develop in the wake of the Appalachian Mountains overnight and into Sunday morning. While these storms won’t likely be severe, there may be periods of heavy rain associated with them. The storms will clear out into the afternoon as another area of high pressure moves in and high temperatures again climb into the mid 80s. Overnight lows fall back into the low 60s. Sunday afternoon’s Flying Squirrels game (vs. Reading, 2:05pm) should be just fine though possibly a bit damp in the wake of any morning shower or thunderstorm activity. Expect temperatures in the low 80s near game time under partly to mostly cloudy skies, and then warming into the mid 80s as the end of the game draws near.
High pressure looks to remain in control in the early part of nextw eek, but not before another lingering shower/thunderstorm threat pops up. I’ll have another update Sunday evening.
