Weather! One more round of snow possible
We’ve got another day of quiet weather before we stare straight down the barrel of yet another winter weather threat. While I think we’re going to see some of the dreaded s-word on Thursday morning, it won’t be much and it won’t stick around long.
We’ve got another day of quiet weather before we stare straight down the barrel of yet another winter weather threat.
High pressure will pass over the region and slide offshore during the day Wednesday, keeping skies partly clear for most of the day as clouds begin to build in late. Temperatures will stay quite cool, however, with highs only reaching the low 40s. Lows overnight will drop into the upper 20s.
A weak, fast-moving system will develop off the Atlantic coast early Thursday. We’ll see a little bit of precipitation in the early morning hours before the system clears out; most of the models have been trending towards a system that doesn’t really develop until its well offshore, which will limit how much precip gets as far inland as the RVA. I’m leaning towards anywhere from a dusting to an inch of snow at most by morning rush hour. If it hasn’t ended by then, it will soon after, and sky conditions will improve as the day progresses. Temperatures will climb into the low 40s again; when coupled with the sunlight later in the afternoon, what does fall won’t stick around long. Temperatures will fall back into the mid 20s overnight.
While most of this weekend stays relatively cool, we’ll see a warmup coming early next week, with highs on Valentine’s Day and beyond climbing well into the 60s. I know I can’t wait! I’ll have a complete weekend forecast Friday morning.
