Weather! More of the same?

As for the next few days, it’s going to be more of the wonderful weather we saw late last week and this weekend.

Before I talk about that, I’d like to talk about something of a personal interest.

If you have an interest in severe weather, I’d like to recommend becoming a SKYWARN spotter for the Naitional Weather Service. It’s free, and there is a training class coming up next month in Richmond. The basic-level SKYWARN class will be held on Tuesday, April 13 at the Richmond Police Training Academy, located at 1202 West Graham Road. An advanced class, for those who have completed the basic class, will be held on April 27 at the Henrico Government Center, 7701 East Parham Road in the West End. Full information about the SKYWARN program, including training class times and locations, and registration information, can be found at the NWS Wakefield SKYWARN site.

As for the next few days, it’s going to be more of the wonderful weather we saw late last week and this weekend. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are all looking like repeats of the past four days; temperatures will continue to approach the mid to upper 80s all three days. Record highs for Tuesday and Wednesday are 92 and 94 respectively, so I don’t think we’ll set any records. However, these temperatures are WAY above average (66 for all three days) for this early in the year. Richmond has been at or above 80 degrees every day so far in April; if this streak continues through Wednesday, it will tie the record for most consecutive days (7, set in March 1990) with temps in the 80s before April 15.

Thursday would break the record; however, there’s looking like a good chance our streak of beautiful days will come to an end, as a cold front passes through the area on Thursday. More on that later this week.

  1. I think Mother Nature is trying to make us all sick. I imagine her thought process goes like this: “Here’s a lot of snow! Now here’s a lot of warm/hot days! And now cold front. Haha, take that, bitches!”
