Weather! More heat records fall; cooling on the way

We hit 92 for a high on Tuesday, meaning we have now tied 1977 with 70 days of temperatures reaching 90 degrees or higher. That record will likely be broken on Wednesday, as we see yet another day in the 90s.

The remnants of what was Tropical Storm Hermine have come onshore and drenched parts of east Texas and possibly spawned a handful of tornadoes. The tropical moisture associated with the storm is over the midwest currently, and make it all the way to the east coast. However, guidance from the forecast models and the Hydrometeorological Predection Center aren’t too clear as of yet, it’s entirely possible the system will rain itself out prior to crossing the Appalachians.

In the meantime, high pressure gives us one more day of heat before a cold front brings us some clouds and cooler temperatures. Wednesday will be our last warm day, as temperatures again climb into the low 90s, though clouds will increase in advance of a cold front approaching from the west. Expect winds to pick up a bit in the afternoon hours, making for a breezy afternoon. Lows overnight following the frontal passage will drop into the low 60s as skies clear up.

The cooling will appear in earnest on Thursday! , with temperatures only making it into the low 80s. Skies will clear behind the front, and overnight lows will drop into the upper 50s overnight,

The cool pattern continues into the weekend, and it looks like it’s going to be great weather for football, NASCAR, or any other event you might have planned. I’ll have an update Friday.
