Weather! Mild, clear start to the week

For both Monday and Tuesday, we’ll see highs in the mid 60s, with overnight lows in the low 40s under partly to mostly sunny skies. Wind speeds in excess of 10 miles per hour will be possible both days.

After Sunday morning’s hard freeze, the National Weather Service has issued a statement declaring the growing season over in central Virginia. This means the end of frost/freeze statements for the region until next March, and the beginning of next year’s growing season.

High pressure centered over the Gulf states will be the dominant feature for most of this week. It will help to keep skies clear, though a low pressure system sitting off the New England coast might throw a few clouds our way before finally moving out to sea later this week, but shouldn’t pose any sort of precipitation threat in the meantime.

It’s a pretty quiet start to the week, and I don’t have much doubt that this pattern will continue through the week. I’ll have an update on Wednesday.
