Weather! Improvement on the way

A pesky area of low pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere has been centered over Virginia and West Virginia; it’s presence has been responsible for the rain and thunder we’ve experienced over the last 24 hours or so. Unfortunately, the low clouds associated with this low are going to linger into Wednesday.

Unfortunately, the low clouds associated with this low are going to linger into Wednesday as this low finally moves offshore and is replaced by high pressure across the southeast. Temperatures today will l get up into the upper 60s today, dropping into the upper 40s tonight. Mostly cloudy conditions will give way to partly cloudy skies by this evening, though I can’t completely rule out the chance for a light shower this morning before the low clears out, but most of this, if not all, should be done by about 8am.

Squirrelcast (vs. Bowie, 10:35am): Low clouds will make Wednesday morning baseball slightly less enjoyable than it could be otherwise, but the rain should be gone by game time. Plan on a first pitch temperature in the low 60s, with temperatures in the mid 60s and improving sky conditions by the ninth inning.

High pressure moves back in on Thursday, giving us mostly sunny skies through the day and highs in the low 70s. Lows Thursday night will fall back into the upper 40s. Its hard to describe this as anything but a quintessential spring day in Richmond, from the warm temperatures to the abundant sunshine and the ridiculously high pollen counts.

Springtime in Richmond: where the trees are green again, and so is everything else.

Friday’s looking like another fantastic day, but a disturbance spinning up across the central plains make for an interesting weekend. In the meantime, pop an extra antihistamine.
