Weather! Heat makes a temporary return

Monday’s high temperature will be well into the 80s, approaching 90. Yeah, 90. It’s not an official heat wave – that requires three consecutive days of temperatures above 90 – but it’s definitely warm for early October.

Richmond’s average high for October 11 and 12 is 71 degrees Fahrenheit.

Monday’s high temperature will be well into the 80s, approaching 90. Yeah, 90. It’s not an official heat wave – that requires three consecutive days of temperatures above 90 – but it’s definitely warm for early October. The ridge of high pressure responsible for the heat will keep skies mostly clear. Overnight lows will drop to near 60. The silver lining here is that with dewpoints in the 50s, we’ll have the heat but very little of the late-summer humidity that we’re used to accompanying it.

The high begins to clear out on Tuesday. An area of low pressure over the Great Lakes will also move east, dragging a cold front east with it. We’ll see another warm day on Tuesday with highs in the low 80s, and clouds increasing through the day. There’s a small chance of some evening showers, but most of the area should stay dry. Overnight lows will drop into the low 50s as the front passes after sunset.

Later this week, there’s another chance of some precipitation later Thursday and Friday. I’ll be keeping an eye on this and will have an update on Wednesday.
