Weather! Heat and humidity return for the weekend

Friday is going to be yet another fantastic day for the region. An area of high pressure off the Atlantic coast will keep temperatures slightly cooler than yesterday’s high of 93, while the humidity continues to stay down. Highs today will climb into the upper 80s under mostly clear skies, and temperatures tonight fall into the mid 60s.

In the tropics, Invest 92L continues to defy conventional wisdom, having remained somewhat intact while crossing the Atlantic, and is currently impacting the Lesser Antilles. There’s still a low (20%) chance of development, as high levels of wind shear will continue to keep the system from organizing, but the little tropical system that could is still bringing a lot of thunderstorm activity and heavy rain to the islands and other parts of the northern Caribbean.

Closer to home, Friday is going to be yet another fantastic day for the region. An area of high pressure off the Atlantic coast will keep temperatures slightly cooler than yesterday’s high of 93, while the humidity continues to stay down. Highs today will climb into the upper 80s under mostly clear skies, and temperatures tonight fall into the mid 60s.

Friday Squirrelcast (7:05pm, vs. Altoona): Gorgeous weather for the baseball game/alligator wrestling show tonight. First pitch temperature should be in the low 80s, dropping into the low 70s by game’s end.

High pressure moves slowly offshore on Saturday, but still remains in control. Warmer air and higher humidity levels begin to make their return, as high temperatures climb back into the low 90s. Mostly clear skies continue through the day and into Saturday night, with nighttime lows in the lower 70s.

Saturday Squirrelcast (6:35pm, vs. Altoona): It’s hard not to go nutz for this weather! Game-time temperature in the upper 80s; ninth inning temps in the mid 70s.

Hot and humid weather will be firmly back in control by Sunday. Temperatures will soar into the upper 90s as dewpoints return to the levels we saw at the beginning of last week. A boundary system moves through the area Sunday evening, giving us a chance for some thunderstorms and rain showers into the late afternoon and evening hours. Otherwise, overnight lows will again fall into the low 70s.

Sunday Squirrelcast (5:05pm, vs. Altoona): Barring a possible evening thunderstorm, it will be hot and humid at the ballpark. Game-time temperature will be in the upper 90s, falling off to mid 80s by the end of the game.

The warm and humid pattern continues into early next week. I’ll have another forecast Monday morning.
