Weather! Have you SEEN this weather?
If you’ve blown your summer’s heating and cooling budget alright, I’ve got some good news about this week’s forecast.
Tired of the heat and humidity? Sick of that sticky feeling you get as soon as you walk outside? Wishing you hadn’t exhausted that supply of deodorant you had stocked up for the apocalypse?
Have I got news for you!
This forecast slices. It dices. It makes french fries THREE DIFFERENT WAYS!
Seriously though, it’s going to be a fantastic start to the week. A cold front that has been lingering around the region (and the trigger for some of the thunderstorms we’ve seen the last few days) is finally passed through the region overnight, meaning we’re going to bid a hearty adieu-and-don’t-let-the-door-hit-you-on-the-way-out to the oppressive heat and humidity. Monday plays host to a cooler air mass behind the cold front. High temperatures will only top out around 80, a far cry from last Thursday’s record-tying 98, or even Sunday’s 91. The passage of the cold front and entrance of high pressure also means our thunderstorm chances diminish, and while the humidity doesn’t entirely go away (this is June in Virginia, after all), humidity values do do become slightly more comfortable. Overnight lows will drop into the upper 50s.
Some additional clouds creep in on Tuesday, but the forecast otherwise remains unchanged. High temperatures will peak around 80 again; 83 is the average high temperature for this time of year, so we’ll actually be below average for both of the first two days this week. The last time we had a below-average high temperature? May 20th. Overnight temperatures will again drop into the upper 50s. For Tuesday night’s Flying Squirrels game (vs. Binghamton, 7:05pm), expect temperatures in the upper 70s at first pitch, dropping into the low 70s by the ninth inning.
The mild temperatures look to continue through mid-week. There are some concerns about thunderstorms later in the week, albeit still amid seasonable temperatures. I’ll have another update on Wednesday.
