Weather! Fantastic temperatures, with a side of rain
Has our streak of incredible weather come to an end? For the moment, it appears so.
For anyone who’s interested in donating supplies to tornado victims in Joplin, Missouri, the Timmons Group is collecting supplies between 4 and 7 p.m. every weekday starting today and ending next Wednesday, June 22 at their corporate headquarters. Their address is:

Recommended donations include gift cards to Walmart and Lowe’s, and new or gently used items, such as cleaning items of all kinds, toilet paper and paper towels, coolers, boxed fans, laundry detergent, personal hygiene items, non-perishable foods, cookware, pet supplies, powdered drink mixes for bottled waters and new/gently used toys and bikes for kids. Additionally, Timmons Group is donating survey trucks and equipment to two survey and engineering firms in Joplin who lost everything in the tornado.
Richmond is enjoying another fantastic weather today, and that should continue all the way through Wednesday night. We’re in the low 70s at noon and headed towards 80 this afternoon under some scattered cloudiness. We’ll see temperatures drop into the low 60s overnight, as some clouds build in advance of our next frontal system approaching from the Ohio Valley. Tonight’s Flying Squirrels game (vs. Binghamton, 7:05) looks great as well, with some scattered clouds and temperatures in the upper 70s at game time. By the ninth inning, temperatures should be down into the lower 70s.
We’ll see some rain showers move in on Thursday as a boundary swings through the region. Plan on showers off and on through most of the day, including the possibility for some pop up thunderstorms around the peak of the afternoon, with high temperatures again near 80. The rain will taper off into the evening hours, especially after sunset. Overnight lows will drop into the mid 60s. I’m hoping the rain will hold off in time for the Flying Squirrels game (vs. Binghamton, 7:05pm), but I can’t completely rule out a shower, especially earlier in the game. Temperatures at first pitch will be in the mid 70s, dropping to near 70 by the end.
A warm, humid air mass returns to the region for Friday and the weekend. Look forward to some thunderstorm chances, along with high temperatures back in the 90s by Saturday. I’ll be back Friday with the complete rundown.
