Weather! Continued dreary for the 10K, improvement next week
It’s no joke – cool and cloudy for the 10K tomorrow morning. However, things improve pretty quickly after that!
It seems like everyone is going to be turning out for the 10K on Saturday, except for one person — Mother Nature.
After a dreary morning we’re seeing some breaks in the clouds this afternoon (and some serious snow flurries here in Blacksburg!) Northwest winds are keeping conditions mostly dry around the Richmond metro, though the breaks in the clouds this afternoon are allowing for some scattered showers to develop. Temperatures will continue climbing to near 50 this afternoon, before dropping back into the upper 30s tonight.
For the Monument Avenue 10K tomorrow, plan on temperatures in the low 40s for most of the flight starting times, though the later runners may see temperatures a bit higher during the later part of the run. Conditions will stay a bit rough as a weak trough and a weak cold front swings through tonight and tomorrow morning. These systems will keep the clouds around through the day Saturday, as well as the chance for a scattered shower, but nothing significant. High pressure will build back in by the evening, breaking up some of the clouds. Plan on overnight temperatures again in the upper 30s.
High pressure begins to take control on Sunday, giving us partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures back up in the mid 60s, and lows in the lower 40s.
If you’re in Houston this weekend, the National Weather Service in Galveston is forecasting a partly cloudy weekend, with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 60s to near 70 both days this weekend.
By Monday, an approaching warm front will send the mercury skyrocketing, with temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80! The cold front following behind it looks like it will give us our next good look at some severe weather chances on Tuesday. I’ll be keeping an eye on both of these, and have an update on Monday morning. Good luck to everyone running this weekend! Go Rams!
