Weather! Continued clearing, mild temps ahead

While the week started out a bit ugly, we’re going to improve greatly for the second half of the week and the weekend. Look forward to sunny skies with light wind and highs near 80 through Sunday!

After half an inch of rain late Tuesday night, conditions have improved today. The cold front responsible for the cloudy skies and the half-inch of rain we received overnight has moved out to sea. While strong low pressure still remains offshore, high pressure near the Great Lakes has created a sharp pressure gradient that’s led to a strong breeze today, with wind gusts in excess of 20 mph.

Wednesday night: The clearing trend continues tonight. Lows will dip into the low 60s. Winds will lessen somewhat, but expect a weak breeze to continue through the night.

Wednesday Squirrelcast (vs. New Hampshire, 6:35pm): Great baseball weather, with temps near 80 at first pitch. A strong north breeze will have the wind blowing in from left field. Stick to the third base side of the stands if you want to avoid the wind in your face all evening long, but head to the first base side if you want to up your chances of a foul ball or two. Temperatures will cool into the lower 70s as the game wraps up.

Thursday: Temperatures will be slightly cooler, only peaking in the upper 70s under to mostly cloudy skies. Winds will continue to gust into the 20s at times. Lows will be similar to tonight, sliding back into the low 60s.

Thursday Squirrelcast (vs. New Hampshire, 6:35pm): Very similar to Wednesday night, with a mix of sun and clouds (before sunset, naturally). The game-time temperature will be in the mid 70s, slipping to near 70 by the ninth inning. Winds will again be coming in from left field, especially in the early innings.

Friday: Expect another mild day that will have every Chamber of Commerce member salivating. Partly sunny skies and highs near 80, with a light easterly breeze. Temps may be slightly milder overnight, but will still fall in the low to mid 60s overnight.

Friday Squirrelcast (vs. New Hampshire, 6:35pm): If you liked Wednesday and Thursday, you’re going to love Friday. Game-time temps will again be in the upper 70s, slipping to near 70. Look for a light breeze to blow in from the outfield.

High pressure moves in over the weekend and takes over, switching winds to the south by Sunday. Temperatures will stay near 80 all weekend long, under partly to mostly sunny skies. Lows will remain in the low to mid 60s all weekend long.
