Weather! Another gorgeous weekend
You’re lucky, Richmond. You’ve managed to score yet another beautiful fall weekend this month. How awesome is that?

I’ve alluded to this some before, but the only drawback to clear Fall days is the clear fall nights that accompany them; without any clouds to hold heat in, nighttime temperatures can get quite chilly. We’ll definitely get to enjoy some of that this weekend as well.
As I’ve said a lot recently, high pressure is in control for this weekend. Friday will be mostly clear with high temperatures in the low 60s. Lows overnight will drop into the low 40s.
Saturday will warm up some, with more clear skies and highs in the low 70s. Overnight lows will be not quite as cool as Friday night, only falling to around 50.
Hokiecast (vs. Duke, 12:00pm): If you’re headed out to Blacksburg for this weekend’s game, expect conditions similar to what you’d see in Richmond, if slightly cooler. Kickoff temperatures should be in the low 60s, warming to near 70 by game’s end. What can be the sometimes fierce fall winds in Blacksburg will be quite calm.
Spidercast (vs. Towson, 3:30pm): As I mentioned, it’s going to be a great weekend to be in the city watching Spiders football. Game-time temperatures will be near their peak in the low 70s, cooling to near 60 by the fourth quarter.
Cavcast (vs. Eastern Michigan, 6:00pm): If you’re headed to Scott Stadium Saturday evening, plan on a cool evening. Kickoff temperatures will be in the mid 60s, cooling into the upper 50s as you head home following the game.
Some high clouds will build in later Sunday, but otherwise it should be a carbon copy of the previous two days. Temperatures will again climb into the mid 70s, dropping into the mid 50s overnight.
Tropical Storm Richard developed southwest of Jamaica on Thursday. There’s some confusion about exactly where this storm is going to travel, but there’s no immediate threat to the United States. However, some longer-term models are keeping the possibility of a Florida landfall in play for later next week. I’m going to keep an eye on it over the weekend, and I’ll have an update on Monday along with my early week forecast.
By the way, I’m always looking for more Ask Weather Dan questions or topics. If you have any, please send them my way! You can either leave them here in the comments or drop me an email at dan@rvanews.com. Have a great weekend!
