Weather! A relief from the heat
Locally, last night’s cold front finally brought some relief from the heat, but not before we tied a record high of 96, first set in 1952.
A Richmond International Airport representative was kind enough to comment on my remarks Friday regarding climate trends at the weather observation site located at the airport. I was mistaken when I talked about expansion at the airport over the last 30 years; I think this a topic that deserves some more exploration, and I have a feeling that I’ll find that it’s not as simple as I tried to make it on Friday.
The Virginia Tech storm chase group hit the road again last week, and has already had some early success on this trip. Here’s to hoping their luck continues!
Locally, last night’s cold front finally brought some relief from the heat, but not before we tied a record high of 96, first set in 1952. The humidity has finally broken, with dewpoints Monday only in the mid 50s, compared to the near-tropical upper 60s we’ve seen since last week. Today we get to enjoy partly cloudy skies and high temperatures in the low 80s. Lows Monday night fall into the upper 50s.
Tuesday is a near-repeat of Monday, as high temperatures hit the low 80s under partly cloudy skies. This is great news, because the Squirrels are back in town! Low temperatures Tuesday night fall into the upper 50s again.
Tuesday night Squrrelcast (vs. New Britain, 7:05pm):: First pitch temperature will be in the upper 70s, falls into the lower 60s by the ninth inning. Partly cloudy skies will make for a great night to watch fireworks at the Diamond.
Wednesday looks to be a bit damp, and the heat and humidity make a return again later on in the week. I’ll have an update then.
