“This summer, there are more property improvements planned for the plaza and walkways — all of which will further improve the pedestrian experience and provide greater connectivity. The Shops are currently 92% leased and there’s approximately 30,000 square feet targeted toward a future merchandise plan.”

Uh huh. And it still sits smack in the middle of the GRTC line. I worked at Barnes & Noble when it was there, and I’ll just say the bus line is not your friend. It doesn’t matter what you do to Willow Lawn – its location dooms it. But good luck anyway.

I am moving back to RVA after many years of living in Atlnta and California. I stopped by Willow Lawn in February and was so disappointed in the shops in the Mall! No Anchor or nice speciality stores. Looked awful! Get it together people want something nice to bring them out.

YEESH with the negative comments people! Willow Lawn has come a long way–originally an outdoor mall, then an indoor mall, and now back to an outdoor mall. It offers more convenient retail options than specialty, which is obviously proving to do well for the center. I mean, look at Stony Point… And is Old Navy not an anchor store? I also think Willow Lawn has a good mix of retail/commercial spaces… Dollar Store, AC Moore, Coconut Jewelers, VCU has a presence, your chain restaurants of course but the addition of the Taphouse will bring more unique and high end options. I think WL is on its way to being something really great and original.

it’s not in Short Pump nobody cares.

Stay away from American Tap House unless you love overpriced bland food and terrible service (just check the reviews on Yelp)…

I’m so happy to see Willow Lawn doing well. It was sad looking for so long and with the improvements I am much more likely to shop there.

  7. What does being on a GRTC line have to do with it? Lack of options for mass transit is why short pump is a driver’s nightmare. And people who look down on mass transit are the reason it’s not getting enough ridership to cover the city properly. I enjoyed American Taphouse by the way. Willow Lawn doesn’t cater to the super rich but it does do a great job offering services that real people actually use. Plus it’s close to Krispy Kreme.
