The BIG PIG Project is going whole hog for charity this weekend

The Scott’s Addition block party kicks off at Lunch and Supper at noon on Saturday, April 18th.

An event that’s half art and half fundraiser is going whole hog in Scott’s Addition this weekend.

Lunch & Supper will host The BIG PIG Project this Saturday to benefit two local charities doing good work in our community.

In what could be seen as a takeoff on the city’s ‘Go Fish!’ project, which placed colorfully decorated rockfish around town to signify their resurgence in the James River, the BIG PIG Project aims to set loose a herd of decorated stone pigs around town.

A benefit for local food bank FeedMore and community print shop Studio Two Three (who, by the way, is two weeks away from opening an expanded studio in Scott’s Addition and is crowdfunding to build the space out), the organizers are selling bigs for $200, which can then be turned into works of art, as described below. On Saturday, the swine will be auctioned off for charity.

From Lunch & Supper:

Hey y’all! We will be hosting a fundraising event to support local businesses, Feedmore and Studio Two Three, and we want your help.

How can you help?

You or a company can purchase a pig for $200, which gives you advertising on all of our media. Then, commission an artist or utilize your own talents to deck out the concrete swine any way you want. Go crazy, get weird with it, and show what you’ve got! On April 18th we will be throwing a block party to showcase and auction off the hottest hog! There will be live music, great food, and drinks!

Stop in today at LUNCH. or SUPPER! to purchase a piglet of your own.

The block party kicks off at Lunch and Supper on Summit Avenue at 12:00 PM and runs through 6:00 PM. There will be live music, food and drinks from Lunch and Supper as well as River City Wood Fire Pizza, and more.
