Take Mom to brunch this Mother’s Day
Egads! Mother’s Day is SUNDAY! Want to impress her? Here are recommendations (and menus!) as to where you can take the special mom in your life for a memorable brunch.

Mother’s Day is THIS Sunday! Before you hit the panic button, remember: there is still plenty of time to buy a card and send flowers. However, if you really want to impress Mom this weekend (and who wouldn’t?), we recommend the restaurants below. Whether you take her to try something new or to visit an old favorite, these spots will be sure to impress every mom out there.
Chez Foushee
- Menu
- Two brunch seatings, one at 11:30am and one at 1:15pm
- 203 North Foushee Street
- 804.648.3325
Chez Foushee is rarely open for brunch, but they should be more often. This place is known for its lunches that are packed with high powered business suits mixed with groups of friends sharing bottles of champagne. If your mom loves an atmosphere of crisp white tablecloths and impeccable service this is your spot.
Ettamae’s Cafe
- Menu
- 10am to 3pm
- 522 North 2nd Street
- 804.888.8058
Last week we shared the unfortuante news that Ettamae’s will be closing its doors on May 14th, so Mother’s Day is a perfect time to enjoy Ettamae’s while you still can. Reservations also strongly recommended–they are known for their brunch and with their days being numbered you’ll want to guarantee yourself a seat.
Garnetts
- Menu
- 2001 Park Avenue
- 804.367.7909
Garnett’s is teaming up with Mom Chat for special boxed lunches on Mother’s Day. Orders can be sent to info@garnettscafe.com before noon on Saturday, May 12. Include your name, phone number, and order information. If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle and stress of making a mom’s Day reservation this is a perfect choice: pick up your order and take your mom across the street to Meadow Park for a picnic.
Mint New Casual Cuisine
- Menu
- 10:30am to 4pm
- 2501 West Main Street
- 804.359.9690
Mint is Amy Cabaniss’s newest restaurant venture, and it has quickly become a Fan hotspot. If your mom loves traditional southern fare but will utter the words “honey, please don’t spend too much on me,” then this is your spot. The food is fabulous and the prices are definitely fair.
Stella’s
- Menu
- 10am to 3pm
- 1012 Lafayette Street
- 804.358.2011
We highly recommend reservations here, otherwise you will be forced to relocate. The brunch is fantastic and with such a warm, family oriented environment it is a great place to celebrate with your mom.
Water Grill
- Menu
- 10:30am to 3pm
- 3411 West Cary Street
- 804.353.3411
If you are dealing with a big group for Mother’s Day, Water Grill is a good choice because it has a lot more space than most restaurants in the city–plus the option to sit on a patio overlooking Carytown is always nice. The menu is mainly seafood focused, but there’s a lot of variety in case you have a picky eater in your group.
