Spidey, Thomas, and professional athletes. Get ready for your kids to lose their ding-dang minds.

Mark your calendars, moms and dads. The folks at the Children’s Museum of Richmond’s Central location have lined up some serious summertime fun for you and your wee whipper-snappers–and it’s all free with museum admission. Take a look…

Spider-Man and Friends

  • Saturday, June 28th • 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM

Spidey and a few of his fellow Marvel superheros will put on two live shows and will have a meet-and-greet with a few lucky CMoR members. Registration for the meet-and-greet opens Tuesday at 9:00 AM, so get on that, parents! Also, a heads up: the live shows are recommended for kids ages 3 and up.

All Aboard with Thomas & Friends

  • Saturday, July 12th • 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM

I’m told you should expect a “fun-filled, sing-along adventure,” but part of me thinks you’ll have a hard time hearing that over the children in attendance shrieking, “IT’S THOMAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!” (Patron Level CMoR members are also invited to register for preferred seating via an invitation that will soon arrive over email.)

RVA Sports Day

  • Saturday, July 19th • all day

CMoR will unite RVA’s favorite sports teams for one day only to teach families how to start moving. Participating teams include the Washington Redskins, Richmond Kickers, Richmond Raiders, Flying Squirrels, and more. All children are invited to participate in Redskins Ready at 11:00 AM or 1:00 PM. This math, SOL-based program uses football to teach counting and the importance of an active lifestyle.

Children’s Museum of Richmond Central is located at 2626 W. Broad Street. Admission is $8 per person; members and kids under 1 are free. CMoR Central is open daily from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM between Memorial Day and Labor Day. And don’t forget to bring the kids’ bathing suits; SplashMor, CMoR’s water play area, is a great way for them to cool off before heading home!
