Stella’s Grocery on Lafayette nearing completion

Owners posted a photo of the space over the weekend, and it’s looking sharp.

The long-anticipated Stella’s Grocery, a forthcoming neighborhood market from Stella’s owners Johnny and Katrina Giavos, should be opening very soon, if a recent photo is any indication.

The Giavos family posted a photo of the store’s interior over the weekend, and it looks pretty impressive.

Once open, Stella’s Grocery will sell everyday staple dry goods and produce, as well as some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes to take home and reheat, such as spanakopita and hummus.

The store will also have a coffee bar and sell beer and wine.

The space, at 1007 Lafayette Street, was originally a neighborhood market known as Lafayette Foodland in the 1940s and ’50s, according to Karri Peifer at Richmond.com.
