Shamrock Shorties

The years of kegs and eggs might be over (for now), but it doesn’t mean St. Patrick’s Day is totally dead for parents and kids. Check out our guide to sharing the shamrock goodness with the shorties in your family.

Rockin’ with Roxie Dance Party

Ever seen a cow dance? Shamrock Farms’s very own Roxie will be shakin’ what her mama gave her encouraging both parents and kids to get up and groove. Kick off your St. Patty’s weekend with this fine event on March 14th at The Children’s Museum of Richmond from 11am-1pm. Don’t miss the free milk samples straight from the farm. What is even more awesome than free milk? The crazy hairstyling and mock tattoo stations.

24th Annual Church Hill Irish Festival

Build a festival, Richmonders will come. It’s like a requirement for being a citizen in the city. Bring the next generation to experience the parade, food, dancing and bagpipe magic of the Church Hill Irish Festival at St. Patrick’s Church on March 21-22. Hours are Saturday from 10am-7pm and Sunday from 10am-6pm. Connor’s Heroes is sponsoring the Kid Zone complete with carnival games, face painting, crafts and more.

Your Lucky Day

Practice some random acts of kindness together as a family to make a lucky day for someone else. Cut shamrocks out of green paper and attach
GRTC Go cards or coins to the card. Write “It’s your lucky day! Please take me.” at the top. Leave on bus benches all over the city. Ten buck will go along way and this guerrilla goodness fun is sure to make a family memory.

Homebody It

Grab a Guinness, make root beer floats for the kids and rent a flick to watch together. The Secret of Roan Inish or Finian’s Rainbow (both available on Netflix) will make the night fun and festive. My food suggestion you ask? Lucky charms and green milk for dinner. Your kids will think you are the best ever.
