RVANews SNOMG pick ’em

You all remember the wee bit of snow we got last year, no? As winter is just around the corner and snow is on the brain, we decided to make a contest out of it. Because this America and that’s what we do.

You all remember the wee bit of snow we got last year, no? As winter is just around the corner and snow is on the brain, we decided to make a contest out of it. Because this America and that’s what we do.

Taking part is quite simple. Using the form at the bottom of this post, you’ll make your snow predictions for each month of what Weather Dan has determined to be Richmond’s snow season: December, January, February, and March. You’ll also include a prediction for what you think the overall snowfall will be for the ’10-’11 season. You can do that by either a) adding up your predicted monthly totals or b) being crazy and just throwing a number out there.

At the end of each month, Weather Dan will give us the final snowfall total. Whoever picked closest to that number will win an RVANews T-shirt (seen here). After March 30th, we’ll look at snow totals for the entire season. Whoever has a final number closest to the actual total snowfall will win an RVANews T-shirt andA Classic Snoopy Sno Cone Machine.

I know, right?

To help you with your predictions, Weather Dan has pulled some snow data from the last few years. (“Trace” means less than one tenth of an inch fell.)

’05-’06 ’06-’07 ’07-’08 ’08-’09 ’09-’10
December 4.4 0.0 Trace Trace 7.4
January Trace Trace 0.8 Trace 10.4
February 3.2 0.3 Trace 0.3 9.8
March 0.9 0.0 Trace 6.3 0.4
Total 8.5 0.3 0.8 6.6 28.0

Please note: Predictions must be made in inches, rounded to the tenths place. You have until 11:59pm on Tuesday, November 30th to get your numbers submitted.

Have at it… and good luck!

(None of the personal-ish information you include on the form will be published. Once you hit submit, it will all be hidden away somewhere in them tubes on the Internets.)
