Wow, you Richmonders really care about your Internet. After LOTS of voting and quite close races in several categories, we now have the winners. Behold!

Best New Blog: Richmond Slumlord Watch

CafeDarkness almost had it, but RVA’s concern with shady landlords prevails.

Best Kept Secret: RichmondInsideOut.com

The fact that this site won really proves something: The only thing Richmonders love more than Richmond is talking about how much they love Richmond.

Best Community Blog: Church Hill People’s News

Not at all shocking but of course well-deserved. However, Boulevardizen (which is THE hardest word to spell ever) gave them a real run for their money for a while.

Best Comment Thread: RVANews – Vote to name RVA’s new baseball team (Also: WTF?)

We don’t want to toot our own horn but… TOOT TOOT TOOT TOOT. Seriously though, one of the best conversations had in a long while, and not at all thanks to us — we just posted the names and you guys ran with it.

Best Overall Blog: The Checkout Girl

Dudes! This one was so close. In fact, our winner only beat The Richmond Scene by TWO votes. And up until right when we closed voting, it was a toss up between those two and Tobacco Avenue, VCU Ram Nation, and Young House Love. Every vote counts, kids!

Best Use of Social Media By A Business: Nate’s Taco Truck

This one held steady for most of the contest, but I thought for a while there that Style Weekly would take it. Although when it all comes down to it, tacos win. Always.

Funniest Twitterer: @thecheckoutgirl

Can you say “Landslide”?

Best Overall Twitterer: @ryanobles

Smart, personable, dimples, AND a new baby? The rest of these guys didn’t stand a chance.

There you have it, folks! I hope you’re pleased with the results. And if you’re not, blame SurveyMonkey and your fellow Richmonders, I guess?

Winners, we’ve got great stuff for you. In addition to a lovely badge that you may affix to your blog or what-have-you, you’ll also be getting an RVANews T-shirt AND a sweet sticker. Email val@rvanews.com for details on how to claim your winnings.

Great way to get some exposure for Richmond bloggers — nice job RVA. And, Richmond Slumlord Watch along with Baltimore Slumlord Watch are easily some of the most progressive “blogs” on the East Coast. Very interesting use of the web.

  8. Congrats to everyone!

@Dave: If everyone nominated / voted for it… what’s the problem?
