Even grocery stores use Mother’s Day to push sales, so take advantage of some of the better deals to pick up a little something for your mom* while you do your shopping this week.

The best card buy is using the store coupon in MARTIN’S circular for “Buy one Expressions from Hallmark card, get one free.”

For roses, head to Kroger to get one dozen long-stem for $9.99. (If you’re buying Freschetta pizza – see Snacks & Sweets – hold off on buying the roses because a Catalina coupon prints at the register for $1 off a flower purchase, or $3 off when you buy two, or $5 wyb three pizzas.)

And as a budget flower option, consider alstroemeria – it’s pretty, lasts a long time, and never costs a lot. Last week’s MARTIN’S circular advertised bunches of alstroemeria for $2.50 as “the flower of the month.”

Pizza: Freschetta $4.99 at Kroger and California Pizza Kitchen $4.99 at MARTIN’S. There was a $1.25 Freschetta coupon in the 3/7 SmartSource, and $1 off California Pizza Kitchen in last Sunday’s SmartSource.

Beverage Top Pick

Tropicana orange juice $2.38 at Kroger. Use “$1 off 2” coupon from 4/25 RedPlum coupon insert.

Household Top Pick

Purex laundry detergent $1.99 at MARTIN’S, combine with $.35 coupon from 4/18 RedPlum to get it for $1.29.
