RTD Cheap Eats: Dot’s Back Inn

You know you’re with a first-timer if he isn’t checking out the specials board before the menu.

Not a word of disagreement from me on Dot’s. It is one of our families go-to spots and we like showing it off to guests, especially once they got rid of smoking.

The burgers were juicy and delicious. The bacon on both was super-crispy, which is a rare treat. John’s Cajun spices gave just the right kick. My pesto was as good as I’d hoped.

John went for the fries, which were anything but standard. They were closer to home fries, thick round slices that were a unique and delicious treat. For my side, I went back to the daily specials board for the macaroni and cheese. This is the real deal, a baked creation with Italian bread crumbs to give extra flavor to the creamy richness. I was very happy.

Great to learn there’s no smoking at Dot’s. Went there 10 years ago because of what I had heard about it from friends, and left before ordering. Will have to try again.

Smoking has been banned in restaurants without smoking specific ventilated rooms since 2009.
