The Lunch Porter (formerly Savor) will be selling Red Velvet cupcakes again this year. Sold in white boxes tied with a red ribbon, they’re made with orange buttercream instead of the typical cream cheese icing (which I fully support, for cream cheese belongs only on bagels, not in dessert). You can order until Friday, February 11, 2011 at 4pm. Pick up is  Valentine’s Day, and you must call to let them know your preferred pick up time (10am, noon, or 3 to 4pm), since they frost the cupcakes just beforehand to ensure freshness.

They are also delivering boxes of a dozen cupcakes or more to downtown businesses who want them for themselves or their clients. Call 804-527-2867, and soon, because they’re getting busy already. A dozen is $25, $13 for a half dozen, or $2.25 each, plus tax. Their Angel Food cupcakes are also available for order.

(The Lunch Porter sold out their Rhone Valley wine dinner this Friday, which I was honored to be invited to. Keep an eye out for how that went next week.)
