Pizza Place wants a slice of the Fan

“We’re going to hit them like Baghdad.”

Since the dawn of time man has asked the age old question can there ever be enough pizza? VCU students are about to find as more pizza is coming their way, specifically to 308 N. Laurel Street. Pizza Place has been serving drunken Bottom goers for years but is now targeting a new set of customers.

Richmond BizSense.com has the details.

Co-owner Jeremy Berman said the pizzeria is expected to open in late March. The Pizza Place signed a two-year-lease for the 1,500-square-foot space in the heart of Ram country to capture the appetites of college students.

“It’s an investment,” Berman said. “We’re going to hit them like Baghdad.”

Berman is a co-owner of the Laurel Street location but does not own the original Pizza Place at 1731 E. Main St. His efforts are being financed by the same New York-based owner of that Shockoe Bottom location, which opened 13 years ago and has its own operator. Berman would name his partner in the venture.
