UPDATE: Pho So 1 is NOT for sale
Wait just a phoking second, Pho So 1 isn’t for sale just yet.

Mai Nguyen, the owner of Pho So 1, said that a listing on the website BizBuySell claiming that her 6403 Rigsby Road restaurant was for sale was fabricated.
“It’s not for sale,” said Nguyen, speaking through a translator, to RVANews. She said that she and Pho So 1 employees have heard from customers lamenting the false listing throughout the day. “We were shocked,” Nguyen said. “It was kind of embarrassing for us.”
The listing on BizBuySell (see below), which has since been removed from the website, listed specific information about the restaurant space–such as financial gross, square footage, and seating capacity. “We never said this,” Nguyen said. She was shocked when she read the online classified listing her own business earlier today.
A call to Smey Keo, who listed the business, hasn’t been returned.
Nguyen confirmed that neither Pho So 1 nor its sister location at Broad and Tuckernuck are closing. She said that today’s unnecessary focus on her and the restaurant thrusted them into the spotlight, where they prefer not to be.
“We’re very simple,” she said. “We don’t want anymore attention on us.”

In what’s probably this week’s worst news, Pho So 1 is for sale. For just $1.2 million you can attempt, but probably fail, to fill the biggest and best pho shoes in Richmond. From their listing on BizBuySell:
Tremendous profitable business in a highly desirable West End of Richmond. Considered to be #1 Vietnamese Pho Restaurant in town. An awesome and loyal clientelle for over a decade. What a great opportunity to own the building and the business itself. Which gross nearly $1.2 million a year with $500k of profit. nearly 2500sqft with 80 seat capacity. Nicely renovated several years ago. Owner willing to provide financing and training and work there as needed.
Pho So 1 is survived by Pho Tay Do and Pho 79 (no relation).

What of the location at Broad and Tuckernuck? Same owners, same broth. The listing doesn’t really say anything about that spot.
Ugh, food grief.

This place is terrible, both locations. The newer location on broad is way too big and makes me uncomfortable eating inside. The broth changes every time I go and there seems to be no consistency with their chefs. I’m not surprised their selling the original location. TBH Pho Tay Do is the best place in RVA to get a bowl of Pho(I’m Viet), although it does only accept cash and parking is scarce.
Misleading title, the building is for sale and the business has been relocated into the same shopping center as TJMaxx on Broad where the old Sino American Cafe was. The end.
Owner yelling at customers, cold soggy egg rolls, hairs in pho multiple times in one month, this place sucks. Overrated. Broth is good, but it is gross.
They are both for sale, not sold yet and they are still open for business. Unfortunately Simon is wrong.
Pho so 1 is no where near the best pho in richmond. Pho Tay do and pho 79 blow this place out the water. Always feels so dirt in pho so 1 and the food sucks.
Not checking sources before writing and article is disgraceful journalism that could have hurt their business.
