O’Toole’s gets Richmond.com’s nod for one of the Best Lunches for $10 or less

I’m partial to the English Burger and steak fries.

O’Toole’s  (4800 Forest Hill Ave.) clocks in at #4 on this list of Best Lunches for $10 or Less on Richmond.com.

According to the “Cheers” theme song, sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. And since 1966, O’Toole’s has been a neighborhood institution in Forest Hill. With cozy booths, dark wood interiors and the most addictive steak fries in town, this place is not to be missed. Neither is its lunch menu, which features nothing more than $10. This includes the top sirloin steak, which is cooked to order, smothered in gravy and mushrooms, and served with two sides. And with heaping bowls of baked spaghetti and a side salad going for only $5.99, you could squeeze in a beer and still come in under $10.

I can’t argue with what they say but the hands down best bargain lunch South of the river is $1 taco day every Wednesday at Taqueria Panchito at 6531 Midlothian Turnpike. If the hole in the wall had a hole this would be it but it can’t be beat for authentic taco truck tacos and it bears repeating only a $1 on Wednesday.

It’s also worth mentioning that Don’t Look Back gets a shout out. Don’t Look Back is where Nate of Nate’s Taco Truck is now serving up excellent tacos. I miss Nate’s Taco Truck though.

Where do you head for lunch on this side of river?
