RPD TRAFFIC ALERT: The Nickel Bridge, aka the Boulevard Bridge, is currently closed because of ice. Please plan to take another route if you travel that way. We hope to reopen it later today if it’s safe enough

Admittedly, because the snow was preceded by rain, pretreatment and post-snow clearing are difficult. That said, the RMA appears to routinely do less than is necessary to keep the bridge open as a result of which the bridge is closed too frequently. Considering the inconvenience and tolls, those who rely on the bridge for necessary travel – including Richmond Ambulance Authority and 3rd Precinct RPD – should demand better.
