New Year’s Eve events

Not sure where to go, or what to do on this New Year’s Eve? We’ve put together a list of what’s happening to give you an idea of how places all over Richmond are ringing in 2012.

You may may know this song that’s played and sung every year when the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve. Ever wonder why it’s so popular this time of year? It’s actually a poem titled “Auld Lang Syne,” written by Scottish poet Robert Burns in the late 18th Century. The phrase “auld lang syne” translates colloquially to “days gone by.” It’s widely popular in English speaking countries, and so that means you’ll likely hear it no matter where and how you spend your New Year’s Eve (only now you can impress your friends with the tune’s origin!).

And speaking of hanging out with friends, if you’re still trying to figure out plans for New Year’s Eve, we’ve put together a bunch of great events and goings on in and around town. Whether it’s having a fine dinner at a great restaurant, or bar hopping downtown, we’re sure you’ll find a great way to ring in the New Year!
