Mulligan’s becomes Postbellum, Kitchen on Cary debuts, and another F.W. Sullivan’s will open

A local restaurateur announces another new restaurant, the Kitchen on Cary grand opening helps a good cause, and details on which chefs we can expect to see at this year’s Off Broad Appetit.

The Jake Crocker restaurant empire just won’t quit! Crocker announced last night that he and his partner, Hayden Fisher of Jacobus Rex LLC, will be opening another F.W. Sullivan’s in the former BlackFinn space at 1001 Haxall Point (located right across from the newly opened Casa Del Barco). This will bring their restaurant total up to six, five of them in town.

Crocker also owns F.W. Sullivan’s Fan Bar & Grille in The Fan, Lady N’awlins Cajun Café, Uptown Market & Deli, Jorge’s Cantina, and F.W. Sullivan’s Old Town Bar & Grille in Fredericksburg. No firm date on when the new Sullivan’s will open.

We’ve got more info on the new restaurant going into the former Mulligan’s space on West Main. Postbellum will be owner Ron Morse’s third restaurant (he also owns Baja Bean Company and Station 2). In an email to RVANews, he said he is close to revealing some more info on the place, but in the meantime you can take a look at how the renovation is going via the restaurant’s Facebook page.

The opening party will run from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and is named Wag and Wine, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Richmond SPCA. Tickets are $25 and include red and white wine tastings, chef selection samples, and an assortment of cheeses. Tickets can be purchased here.

Two Richmond chefs got their 15 seconds of commercial fame recently. Tuffy Stone (Q Barbeque and Cool Smoke) and Jason Alley (Comfort and Pasture) both made appearances in Richmond’s own CF Sauer Duke’s Mayonnaise TV campaign currently running in South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Atlanta. The commercial was produced by Richmond’s Elevation Advertising. Keep it local, keep it Duke’s, RVA! (that should be a real tagline).

We had the pleasure of attending last year’s event and folks, it is well worth the $125. A group of very well known chefs heads to RVA and each cooks a signature dish. The six chefs involved this year truly represent farm to table cuisine and will use local Virginia products in each of their dishes. The chefs include:
