Mosaic Catering bringing rooftop event space to Scott’s Addition

The event space will be located atop the Hofheimer Building, forthcoming home of a new Peter Chang restaurant.

Mosaic Catering has partnered with one of the area’s more well known real estate firms, Snipes Properties, to bring a first-of-its kind rooftop event space to Scott’s Addition, in the same building that will soon be home to Peter Chang’s newest location.

From the news release:

Mosaic Catering + Events has contracted with the developer of the Hofheimer Building, Snipes Properties, to manage and book the neighborhood’s first rooftop event venue. The historic Hofheimer Building is located at 2816 W. Broad Street in Scott’s Addition.

Peter Chang announced over the summer that he leased 3,000 square feet at the Hofheimer Building for his newest location. His restaurant and the rooftop event space are both set to open in the spring and will be operated separately. The developers have one remaining ground floor restaurant space for lease that would share the area’s largest rooftop patio at over 3,600 square feet.

The event venue will feature 3 distinct spaces: the rooftop patio, a large loft space on the second floor and a small art gallery. The space will be available to rent for a variety of uses including private parties, weddings, corporate events and art shows.

The development team held a series of community events last spring in which over 400 neighbors toured the building and gave input. “The event venue concept came directly from community feedback and we’re excited the idea came to fruition,” said Annie Snipes with Snipes Properties. “We felt the rooftop was a great asset to the building and the effort it took to get it worked into the design was definitely worth it.”

The planning and construction process took over 12 months. The developers received zoning approval from City Council in November to allow the rooftop space to be utilized.

The venue will feature an elevator with direct access to the rooftop area which will be equipped with plumbing, electrical and audio/visual to handle any type of professional event production. Booking and logistics will run through Mosaic, or event planners can bring their own caterers and staff. Mosaic will offer turn-key packages and furniture rental for the venue. Mosaic Catering is located in the Scott’s Addition area directly across the street from the venue at 3001 Cutshaw Avenue.

The building is located at 2816 W. Broad Street and was built in 1928 by the Hofheimer Fine Rug Cleaning Company. The 14,000 square foot building is listed in the Scott’s Addition historic register and features Mediterranean tilework and tower dome.
