Meeting to discuss traffic impact of 2014 USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals

This is the warm up to the big event the 2015 UCI Road World Championships.

What you see above is a portion of the course for Friday. Those roads in the red zone will closed all day.

The 2014 USA Cycling Collegiate Road Nationals will be held in Richmond, Va. on Friday, May 2 through Sunday, May 4 and will serve as the official test event for the 2015 UCI Road World Championships.The collegiate event expects to attract more than 400 men and women cyclists from more than 100 colleges and universities. These athletes will be competing in four different main events: Team and IndividualTime Trial, Criterium and the Road Race.

In order for these races to happen some roads are going to have to closed and most of these roads will closed for the entire day. You can check out the full Collegiate Road Nationals Traffic Impact Briefing (pdf).

The Shockoe Slip neighborhood has arranged a meeting this Thursday with the City and the Cycling group to go over the details of the May 2-4 Collegiate Road event. Most of the race is scheduled downtown and will effect most of the main trafficked streets.  Street closures will be in-effect Friday – Sunday ,May 2-4, beginning at 8 am.  The meeting will be held at the Berkeley Hotel at 10am.
