NBC12 reports that Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring has filed suit against the Richmond Magnuson Grand Hotel on West Broad Street, alleging the hotel forced travelers to pay a higher room rate than was confirmed in advance, and demanding restitution. The hotel manager denies knowledge of any such actions.

The hotel was previously Crown Plaza brand lodging; recent TripAdvisor reviews reveal a number of guest complaints about faulty temperature control, mis-representation of amenities, and conflicts with the management. It ranks #72 out of 83 Richmond hotels on Trip Advisor.
