Today’s Larry Sanders’s court date for the criminal prosecution of “Destruction of Government Property.” His crime: breaking a dorm room door, for which he reimbursed the university.

We tried to get more information from VCU but didn’t get very far. Athletic Director Norwood Teague responded with this comment:

“i am not sure we are actually pressing charges against larry. he simply broke a door in the dorm horsing around like many college kids do. he paid for the door out of his own pocket, and he going to court will finalize this situation. this will not effect his future with the team.”

So who is responsible for pressing charges against Larry? We’re not sure, but we’re going to keep asking the question until we get a straight answer.

Questions I’d like to get answered from VCU:

  • What is the policy for handling incidents such as this: Which ones get criminally prosecuted and which ones are handled in-house?
  • How many students has VCU pressed charges for “Destruction of Government Property” in the past year?
