We’re long overdue in sharing a bit more about Lamplighter Coffee Roasting located at 116 S. Addison Street. The spot opened about 3 months ago and has already generated a fair amount of buzz. Starbucks it’s not–which we mean in the best possible way. If you’re looking for burnt coffee slung by mumblers in black aprons, head over to Stuart and Robinson. If you’re looking for on-site roasted coffee, well-pulled espressos, and delicious home-made baked goods, then try Lamplighter. Most days you also can even find Country Style Doughnuts for sale alongside delicious desserts and pastries provided by nearby Lucille’s Bakery.

The inside is cozy with 5 tables and a few seats at the bar. The staff is friendly and attentive. The overall feel definitely leans urban hipster, but remains obliging to those of us who don’t quite qualify.

They have big plans for the spring/summer, too, using their corner lot to create plenty of outdoor seating as well as some container gardening.

But like any coffee place, the ultimate arbiter is the quality of the drink. A friend put it succinctly via twitter:

“Lamplighter espresso = above average”

Indeed.
