Julep’s moving from Shockoe Bottom to downtown

Julep’s will stay open in it’s current location through February.

Julep’s Southern Cuisine, one of the pioneers of the Shockoe dining scene is moving to new digs at the former Shields Shoes store at 420 E. Grace Street. This will put Julep’s in good company as Rappahannock Oyster Co. is nearby and Pasture is right next door.

Julep’s has been at its currently location 1719 E. Franklin St., the oldest still used commercial structure in Richmond, for 11 years. Owner Amy Ayers is looking forward to her new digs.

From Richmond.com.

“I closed on 420 E. Grace St. last Thursday,” Ayers said. “I fell in love with the building and thought it would be a gorgeous space for Julep’s.”

Ayers said she hopes to have construction finished on the new space, which is three levels and will house apartments on the second and third floors, by the end of the year.

Julep’s on Grace should open in March 2015.
