Henrico County launches new tool to aid businesses in site selection process

The website aims to be a “welcome mat” for businesses looking to set up shop in the county.

From Henrico Now:

You’re ready to relocate your business. Where do you begin? Many site selection firms seek out basic demographic and industry data online before contacting localities for information on business incentives, real estate credits and job training assistance.

Alex Metzger is president of Next Move Group, a site selection and incentives negotiation firm that helps companies expand in their current space or relocate to new locations. The company specializes in making sure clients make the best use of state and local incentives.

“Demographic data is very important when we go through our initial search process,” says Metzger. “The first thing we look at is labor shed and workforce information. The easier we can access this info, the better. With today’s technology, we often know if a community will work or not for a client before we ever reach out to the community.”

The intersection of demographics data and technology used to create this tool, hosted at henricoproperties.com, make this a pretty forward-thinking idea from the county that will hopefully bring more businesses to town.
