Memorial Day Ceremony at the Virginia War Memorial

Join members of the American Legion, 11th District for a ceremony honoring all members of the U.S. Military. 10am, Virginia War Memorial 621 S. Belvidere Street), free.

Memorial Day Wine & Cheese Pairing

Celebrate the holiday with a gourmet wine and cheese pairing. Learn the basics of putting together James River Cellars’s award-winning wines with specialty cheeses to enhance the flavors of both. 11am to 5pm, James River Cellars (11008 Washington Highway), $10.

Memorial Day Program at Fort Harrison National Cemetery

Richmond National Battlefield Park, in cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs, is sponsoring a Memorial Day wreath-laying program to honor and remember those who have died in our nation’s service. 12pm to 1:30pm, Fort Harrison National Cemetery (8621 Battlefield Park Road), free.

Memorial Day Concert at the Carillon

A free Memorial Day Concert will be held at the Carillon in Byrd Park featuring a selection of patriotic music played by Lawrence Robinson on the Carillon bells. An open house with light refreshments will follow the concert. 4pm, Byrd Park, free (bring chairs).

Flying Squirrels vs. Bowie Baysox

Memorial Day is the unofficial start of Summer, and what’s more “America in the Summer” than baseball and… fireworks! 7:05pm, The Diamond (on the Boulevard), $6-$10.
