Grand opening of expanded Short Pump Park set for June 25th

The newly-upgraded park includes new trails, a “sprayground,” a dog park, and other features.

Short Pump Park, which has served the county for decades, will soon show off some major improvements in line with the surrounding area’s growth.

The new and improved park will sport new trails, better restrooms and shelter buildings, new playground equipment, a dog park, a children’s “sprayground” with a feature fountain and water jets, and additional parking.

The park, adjacent to Short Pump Elementary, currently features sports field and the restored 1902 Deep Run Schoolhouse. A rendering of the new additions, which were funded through a citizen-approved bond referendum in 2005, can be seen above. Explore in more detail here (PDF).

The grand opening ceremony will kick off at 1:00 PM on June 25th and runs through 4:00 PM. Short Pump Park is located at 3329 Pump Road in Short Pump.
